Summer in the city...
This was a tough week - lots of late nights working due to a big summer work event coming up. We jetted out at 5:00 on Friday and hopped on the train for a quick 24 hour escape to the city.

Reveille does not disappoint.
Wandering around.
We will absolutely be back to this little urban winery a few blocks from the train station
We came back yesterday afternoon, and as nice as it is to get away, it always feels so good to come home to our space. We both worked a solid 9-5 at the office today - unusual for us, but I am so happy with how much work we both got done. Luke built bikes for our Retailer Event and I plugged away on excel drafting an order for our 2018 bike lines.
The funny thing is, I am so happy with how much work we got done that I didn't even mind going in. It was kind of nice to enjoy the quiet of the office after so much hustle and bustle in the city.
That and we both have an extremely short week - we leave Wednesday morning for Palm Springs, so keeping that in mind made a Sunday work session all the easier.

Trees having fun
We drove down to LAish... (suburbs) to paint a mural a nursery for some friends' first born. The couple is having a little girl, and they want her nursery to be different. Dad is a huge Calvin and Hobbes fan, and Mom couldn't have been more trusting and easy going. The story of the cartoon that inspired this is that Calvin is telling Hobbes how complicated the world is, and Hobbes responds that whenever he is feeling overwhelmed, he just takes a nap until dinner. Pretty fitting for a nursery.

Big news coming out soon... In the mean time here is a behind the scenes pic of mural painting at work!

Back on the blog!
Because some days are hard, and some days are happy. I want a place to store my happy, so on the hard I know where to go if I need a smile. That's why I am back to blogging. I need it for me. It will be mostly photos, likely unedited, and typing with my thumbs means probable typos. But that's okay. The point is to remember the good.
Yesterday was a day full of happy. It was one of our best days yet. Slow wake up complete with a piece of bacon handed to me while I was still under the covers. (To be followed by an incredible scramble). Coffee and a little reading on the rooftop (attempting to even out tan lines before Palm Springs). Mountain bike riding with coworkers in Santa Cruz, and a pizza party with more coworkers in Aptos. (The pizza party was complete with gluten free/Ketogenic friendly home made cauliflower pizza dough. - I work with the most incredible friends). Relaxation, adventure, conversation, and delicious food - a perfect California day with my love.
