California Girl

Here are some pics from our Leadership Day.
and my personal favorites:
It was a little. chilly, but it's safe to say I found my edge (and went way past it).

Colors

What the Mr. and Mrs. have been up to lately... (When we're not working or sweating)

Luke is working on these two for me as a valentine's day present. ....when you have a tiny apartment project presents are rarely surprises.

And I finally picked up my water colors to make this little lady...

Do one thing a day that scares you...

I would have never, ever, ever, thought I would be willing to try Olympic Lifting. The aggressive grunts and the loud clanking of even regular lifting has honestly always intimidated me. Usually I scamper by the weights as quickly as possible on my way from cardio lane to the blue mats that are soft and safe for stretching. There I can be by myself and no one can tell if I am doing something the right or wrong way, and I feel confident knowing I can't get hurt because I am in my safe and familiar area.

Lately work with lululemon has given me more and more opportunities to step out of my comfort zone, to do things that are new, different and some I would have otherwise considered scary. Today I did just one of those things. I took a strength class where I learned how to do Olympic Lifting. The funny thing is: I didn't feel one bit scared. I even had a smile on my face the whole time. Because I was actually enjoying learning something new and being a beginner. I knew that I had no expectations of greatness. I wasn't trying to impress anyone, nor was I concerned about trying to just blend in with everyone. Instead, I was perfectly content and happy to just listen to the coach and try my best. As a result, I loved it! I want to do it again. (I don't want to go pro ;) but I definitely want to just practice it again.) and it feels good.
This is what I call #joblove.

Oh, and this was me "at work" yesterday. I got to hike and do standup Paddleboard yoga. On my hike I charged up a hill, slipped, and slid all the way down. After, on the paddle board I lost my balance and fell in... In front of the rest of the leadership team. Was I mortified? No. Was I even embarrassed? No. And it's honestly because in those moments I was so happy doing something so outside of my comfort zone that I was okay with being a beginner. I even liked it.

Now I just need to remember that, keep trying new things, and keep practicing those that I love.

See Lucas, I am working on it. ;)

Play Day

Two weekends ago we escaped to the city for some sand, coffee, and bike time. Luke has a friend from Trader Joe's who is a photographer (a very talented one at that!), and he invited us to stay the night at his place so he could shoot us at sunrise. We happily obliged and had a blast playing in the sand. After a few shots in dress up clothes, I told him I just might have a tutu in the car. Here are the results:

All the photos are from Scott Fin Photography. Check him out, he is a fantastic man.

Sayonara 2013

2013 was not the easiest of years for us, but it was far better than 2012. I am looking forward to all that the new year will bring...

Cheers!
Last night we celebrated with a drink while we waited for our ToGo sushi order, and we enjoyed a quiet night in with netflix. Sounds boring, but it was actually pretty nice to go to work today fully rested and Not Hungover. (Yes, I'm getting older)
