fotofun

here are a few photos from our trip. let me put a preemptive warning out there that I am very new to Lightroom, and I probably got a little filter/effect happy, but I am having fun exploring the program and hoping to learn more as I go.

ps- Mandy&Linds: (my best friends who are incredible professional photographers) you might want to skip this post! ;)

Back

Officially back to our real world. Luke and Troy picked me up from yoga and the three of us are enjoying Pizza and Magnum PI. They had been working on building Troy's new bike. I have to say, it's looking pretty nice so far. :)

Ps- LOTS of photos to come soon.

PDX

Loving it still. We have seen all kinds of weather. Beautiful the first day so we spent most of it out in the sunshine. Yesterday we hid from the rain in the movie theater, and today we are still roaming around, having to dodge the rain here and there.

Quick pics

Saw Mayer Hawthorne last night with great friends. Had an absolute blast, Dug him so much I had to get a shirt.

We (meaning Lucas) successfully boxed and checked our bikes. Then we stood around carrying our backpacks at the Amtrack station waiting for our train to come in.

It finally came rolling in around 1:00am, just in time for me to climb avoid and fall asleep.

The view is breathtaking. Check out Mt. Shasta. So far I am a big fan of train travel.

(for some reason my pics are outta order-- I'm on my phone, we left computers at home-- editing will occur later)

Post apt..

To sum it up: yes Epilepsy, no MS. I have to be seizure free/and on meds for another 5 months in order to get my license back, as for long term--- I need to keep taking meds, avoiding alcohol, and it's likely that I will not have more seizures. If I do, we'll try different meds, and the last, scariest, resort is brain surgery. (According to Luke, I turned a shade of white when she was explaining the procedures.) odds are in my favor regarding that though-- 2/3's of people with Epilepsy do fine on medication.

Sidenote- I appreciate the hell outta my husband/family/friends!

So I am now going to take a deep breath and pack for Portland.

Master of my Universe

In the midst of a mild/moderate phone call with mom freak out, I got a call from my principal letting me know that I had forgotten to sign off my cums. Immediate panic ensues. I have no car, no license, husband is at work, I have to be at my Neuro appt by 1:45, and we are leaving tonight for Portland won't get back till Monday....

Rather than succumbing to the panic, I realized I do have a bike, a helmet and a nifty device on my phone to give me a route to school other than the freeway. Yep, I rode my bike all the way to school, took care of my business and rode myself all the way back. Total success! I rode around 20 miles total (I went a few miles off course on the way there), stopped off at the gluten free shop down my street, treated myself to tasty beverages, came home and took a lovely bath.

***sidenote as I finish this update, I am sitting in the waiting room scared silly, and no longer feeling such a Master. Though fleeting, it was sweet while it lasted.

Busy day

Bikram, Mani/pedi, cleaning, running (really, walking) errands, and now a sparkling beverage in my freshly scrubbed clean tub.

Woohoo!!!

Momo and I finished our 10K! I am so proud of her for finishing her first, and I am so happy to report that I have no hip pain... Maybe I will still be doing that Half Marathon in July after all.

I will have the post run pics later, but here we are at 6:30 this morning in our matching shirts. :)

Pops and Momo

Pops and I had dinner and went to a Rivercats game last night to celebrate Father's Day. We had a blast! Great seats, nice people next to us, good baseball, and perfect weather. When I was a kid we used to go on dates all the time just the two of us, and it was nice to be able to spend some QT with my Pops again. He is good company.

As for Momo, we still have lots of Mother Daughter dates (we had a ball seeing Beach Blanket Babylon for Mother's Day), but today is a new day for the two of us. My mom is running her first 10K and I told her I would do it with her. I am a little apprehensive.... My plan to run regularly fell by the wayside and I haven't run more than 3 miles in a LONG time. I was pretty tempted to bail... I am still considering taking the 5K loop instead of the 10. I couldn't be prouder/more excited for my mom though. The whole family has taken to running the past two years (thank you Josh and Em for inspiring us!), and my mom and pops run faithfully every morning long before the sun comes up. It's neat to see how their relationship has evolved and how they are still finding activities to share with each other and us kids.

So super lengthy update- to sum it up, my parents are awesome, and I hope I survive today.
